Mid-Century Yellow Glazed Ceramic Scallop Shell Chip and Dip Server
Description
A mid-century ceramic chip and dip server designed in the form of integrated scallop shells. The piece is crafted from molded earthenware and finished in a saturated, high-gloss yellow glaze. The sculptural form consists of a large, deep fluted shell base for food and a smaller integrated shell bowl positioned at the hinge for sauces or dips. The piece shows radial fluting on both the interior and exterior surfaces. No maker marks, stamps, monograms, or labels are visible on the interior or rim surfaces of the item.
Condition report:
The piece is in fair vintage condition. Significant wear is present along the scalloped outer edge of the large shell, including several small chips where the glaze has been lost and areas of dark surface staining (photo 1). The yellow glaze exhibits fine crazing throughout the interior, along with minor surface scratches consistent with use (photo 1).
