Mid-Century Modern Cast Aluminum Boat-Form Serving Bowl
Description
This elongated boat-form serving bowl or centerpiece tray is constructed of cast aluminum. The piece features a biomorphic, leaf-like silhouette with two integral circular cutout handles at the tapered ends. The interior surface is finished to a high polish, creating a reflective appearance, while the exterior and underside exhibit a matte, textured finish characteristic of sand-cast metalware. No maker’s marks, signatures, hallmarks, or labels are visible on the surfaces shown in the photographs.
Condition report:
The bowl is in fair to good condition. The polished interior surface exhibits widespread fine scratches and scuffs consistent with age and utility (photo 1). Several small, dark spots of oxidation or pitting are visible in the interior well (photo 1). The matte exterior shows light surface wear and minor scuffing (photo 2).
