Ucagco China Rectangular Porcelain Floral Trinket Dish Made in Japan
Description
A Japan-made porcelain trinket dish of rectangular form with rounded corners and a scalloped rim. The central cream-white ground is decorated with a transfer print depicting a cluster of red and pink roses with green foliage. A thin band of gold gilt accents the rim. The underside features a tan printed mark consisting of the words UCAGCO CHINA in an upper arc, a central oval cartouche containing two crossed flags, and a lower arc reading MADE IN JAPAN. The mark identifies the piece as an import by the United China and Glass Company, manufactured in Japan during the mid-20th century.
Condition report:
The dish shows visible wear and thinning to the gold gilt along the scalloped rim (photo 1). There is minor fading and loss of detail to the central floral transfer print (photo 1). The porcelain body exhibits small kiln specks and inclusions on the underside (photos 2 and 3). No chips or cracks are observed.
