Electrified Neoclassical Style Metal and Fluted Table Lamp Base
Description
An electrified table lamp base designed in the Victorian Revival style, modeled after a traditional oil lamp. The piece features a square, tiered cast metal base with embossed foliate and scroll motifs. A black-painted fluted central shaft rises to a series of decorative cast metal collars. The top assembly is designed to mimic an oil lamp burner, including a perforated gallery and an ornate thumbwheel decorated with a fleur-de-lis style finial. The interior is fitted with a standard Edison-style electrical socket. A white two-prong power cord is attached. A white paper string tag is looped around the upper collar and bears the handwritten characters Vintage / Lamp / Base $10. No other marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the exterior surfaces shown.
Condition report:
The lamp base shows signs of age and previous use. Significant paint loss and scratching are visible on the black fluted shaft (photo 1). The cast metal components exhibit surface dust, grime, and areas of minor oxidation (photo 1). The glass chimney and shade are missing. The white electrical cord is tangled and shows surface discoloration; professional inspection and rewiring for safety is recommended. The electrical functionality has not been tested.
