Description
A single semi-abstract painting executed in oil or acrylic paint on canvas or board. The composition employs a fractured, geometric style characterized by heavy tessellation of forms, reminiscent of Analytical Cubism. The work depicts a central vertical motif, possibly a cross or figure, emerging from the fragmented background. The palette features a strong contrast between cool blues and teals dominating the upper half and warm browns, ochres, and earth tones in the lower half. Forms are strongly delineated by dark linear strokes. The painting is signed in the lower right corner “E.D. WELCH.” Measures approximately 20″x 30″.
