Lot 76:
Description
A single archaic or folk art pitcher or jar constructed from reddish-orange earthenware, possibly of Native American origin. The vessel displays a hand-thrown technique, evidenced by visible horizontal striations across the body. The form consists of a rounded, globular base supporting a slightly waisted cylindrical neck, featuring a single applied strap handle affixed to the shoulder and neck. The surface is predominantly unglazed, though localized, uneven applications of dark brown and amber-hued glaze or residue are present near the rim and around the handle attachment points. The piece exhibits characteristics consistent with traditional utilitarian pottery. No maker’s marks, stamps, or textual inscriptions are visible. Measures approximately 6.5″ tall.
