Lot 73:
Description
A novelty ceramic vase or planter attributed to Victoria Ware Ironstone. The object is formed as a high-laced ankle boot, executed in the traditional Blue and White style. The material is glazed porcelain or earthenware, decorated with underglaze cobalt blue. The decoration consists of scattered stylized floral motifs and scrolling vines covering the body. A geometric scroll border encircles the rim. The front of the boot features molded vertical lines and a bow detail simulating lacing. The bottom (sole) of the boot bears a distinct manufacturer’s mark, rendered in blue, depicting an ornate crested shield or cartouche, consistent with Victoria Ware Ironstone production. Measures approximately 8″ tall.
