Description
A single piece of contemporary folk art pyrography executed by Jason M. Smith in 2020. The artwork is created on a natural cross-section wood slab featuring an intact bark edge. The central subject is a waist-up portrait of a man with a mustache and beard, wearing a wide-brimmed cowboy hat and Western-style collared shirt. The figure is rendered using line-work pyrography, contrasting sharply with the surrounding background which is finished with a deep, dark stain or paint. The piece is signed in pyrography in the lower right area with “Jason M. Smith ’20.”
Approximate dimensions: 12 inches tall and 8″ wide.
