Lot 16:
Description
A single contemporary studio pottery ceramic sculpture, constructed from stoneware. The piece is highly stylized, depicting an abstract animal head, characterized by large, rounded ears and a prominent, blocky muzzle. The mouth reveals large, rectangular teeth. The sculpture is covered primarily in a speckled, semi-matte off-white glaze which highlights the texture of the clay body. The interior sections and the teeth are finished in a starker white glaze. Faint pooling of glaze with a subtle light green tint is visible in recessed areas, particularly on the sides and ears. The form suggests use as a decorative vessel or mask. No visible maker’s marks or signatures are present.
