Lot 103:
Description
A single ceramic pitcher or jug, likely studio pottery, featuring a broad, rounded body and a thick, pulled handle. The vessel is covered in an off-white or cream-colored glossy glaze. The exterior decoration consists of multiple stylized dragonflies rendered in low relief and detailed with a grayish-blue underglaze or slip. The insects are visually connected by segmented, chain-like bodies that wrap around the circumference of the vessel. The rim is lightly pinched to form a spout. The unglazed base displays evidence of firing support marks and minor reddish-brown flecks. The base is marked with incised, illegible initials and a distinctive, incised impression resembling a small insect or dragonfly mark. Measures approximately 5.5″ tall.
