Description
A single stemmed stoneware cup attributed to Jugtown Ware, North Carolina Studio Pottery. The vessel features a bulbous bowl supported by a short stem resting on a low, rolled foot. The body is composed of reddish-brown, speckled clay covered in a rustic, thick, off-white to pale grey matte glaze. The exterior bowl is decorated with abstract floral or geometric motifs rendered using brushed cobalt blue and reddish-brown oxide pigments, characteristic of vintage Jugtown production. The unglazed base of the item bears a circular impressed stamp reading JUGTOWN WARE, positioned adjacent to several small, vertically stacked impressed potter’s marks, confirming the attribution.
