Biomorphic Trilobed Glazed Stoneware Vessel
Description
This biomorphic studio pottery vessel is crafted from stoneware with an organic, undulating trilobed form. The exterior is finished in a thick, matte white crater glaze characterized by heavy dark-infilled crazing and a textured, volcanic surface. A pattern of raised, slip-trailed white glaze dots is applied in rows along the vertical transitions between the lobes and in clusters near the irregular, hand-formed rim. The interior is finished in a contrasting dark gray matte glaze. A small white adhesive label is present on the interior rim with blue ink notations that are not legible. No other maker marks, signatures, or stamps are visible on the body or the interior.
Condition report:
The piece appears to be in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The heavy crazing and cratered surface are intentional design features of the glaze technique (photo 1).
