A Set of Four Hand-Painted Porcelain Teacups and Saucers Dated 1974
Description
A set of four fine porcelain teacups and matching saucers, each featuring unique hand-painted floral decorations. The teacups are constructed with thin walls and finished in a high-gloss glaze. The form of the cups features a footed, shell-molded pedestal base and ornate scrolled handles accented with gold-colored gilding. Each cup is decorated with a different hand-painted floral specimen on the exterior, including white dogwood blossoms, purple hydrangea or lilac clusters, and white lilies of the valley. The saucers have a circular form with slightly upturned edges and gilded rims. The underside of the footed bases features a small hand-painted floral sprig and handwritten text in gold-colored pigment reading Zenobia 74. The underside of the saucers contains handwritten text in gold-colored pigment along the inner rim reading Wilson – Aunt Zenobia 74. The personalized inscriptions indicate the pieces were porcelain blanks hand-painted by an individual named Wilson as a gift for Aunt Zenobia in 1974. No manufacturer marks or country-of-origin stamps are visible on the pieces.
Condition report:
The set is in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or structural repairs (photos 1, 4, 5). The hand-painted floral decorations remain vibrant. The gold-colored gilding on the rims and handles shows minimal signs of wear.
