A Vintage Hand-Painted Ceramic Raggedy Ann Shaker Dated 1974
Description
This hand-painted ceramic shaker depicts the classic Raggedy Ann character. The figure is modeled with textured yellow hair, large eyes with lashes, a red triangular nose, and a stitched smile. She is dressed in a blue and white patterned dress with a white apron and red petticoat, paired with traditional red-and-white striped stockings and black shoes. The figure stands on an integral circular base. Three small circular perforations are visible at the crown of the head for dispensing contents. The edge of the base is hand-inscribed in dark pigment with Allison’s 10-29- on one side and 1st Birthday 74 on the other. A small painted 74 is also visible on the base edge. The underside of the base is covered with an applied beige felt pad.
Condition report:
There is a small chip to the ceramic on the left side of the yellow hair (photo 1). Significant paint loss and wear are present on the red-painted stripes of the stockings (photos 2 and 3). The piece shows minor surface grime and shelf wear consistent with age.
