Description
A hand-wrought copper dish or tray featuring a prominent martelé finish across the entire surface. The piece is formed into an irregular, organic kidney-like silhouette with uneven, hand-cut edges characteristic of studio-made Arts and Crafts metalwork. The interior surface displays a varied patina from oxidation. The underside features a hand-drawn oval in green ink or pencil, containing a central character that appears to be the number 9 or lowercase letter g, with crossed lines forming an X directly below it. No stamped hallmarks, signatures, or printed labels are visible.
Condition report:
The dish exhibits a varied patina with notable green verdigris and dark oxidation concentrated on the interior surface and along the rim (photo 1). The underside shows scattered surface scratches and minor pitting consistent with age and manual construction (photo 2). The green inventory markings on the base are clear (photo 2). The irregular rim is a feature of the hand-made construction rather than damage.
