A MacKenzie-Childs Torquay Pattern Ceramic Serving Bowl and Platter
Description
A two-piece ceramic serving set comprising a square bowl and a coordinating square platter in the Torquay pattern. The bowl features tapered sides and a flared rim, decorated with hand-painted horizontal green stripes on a cream ground. The base is finished with a double row of green and cream checkerboard squares, and the rim is highlighted with a solid green band. The bowl interior has a solid cream glaze. The coordinating square platter features a cream ground decorated with thin, hand-painted horizontal stripes in a terracotta or reddish-pink hue. The pieces are finished with a high-gloss glaze. No marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the surfaces presented in the photograph.
Condition report:
The set appears to be in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, or visible crazing to the glaze (photo 1). The hand-painted decoration and high-gloss finish are well-preserved.
