A Pair of Hand-Painted Ceramic Figurines Depicting The Blue Boy and Pinkie
Description
A pair of hand-painted ceramic figurines modeled after the classic portraits The Blue Boy and Pinkie. The male figure is depicted in a blue doublet and breeches with a white lace-edged collar and cuffs, holding a black plumed hat at his side. He stands on a circular base decorated with a hand-painted blue floral vine motif. The female figure is portrayed in a flowing pink gown with a matching bonnet tied under her chin. Both figures feature hand-painted facial details and a matte finish. A small white rectangular adhesive label is present on the back of the leg of the figure in blue. No manufacturer marks, signatures, or stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces of the figurines or their bases.
Condition report:
The figure in pink shows significant paint loss and an apparent old repair to the left forearm and hand (photo 1). There are small chips and associated paint losses along the brim of the bonnet and the edge of the circular base (photo 1). The figure in blue displays minor surface wear and small paint losses on the hair and the edges of the base (photo 1). Both figurines show light surface soiling throughout consistent with age and display.
