Lot 112:
Description
A single contemporary studio pottery charger / pie plate attributed to John C Page. This piece of art pottery is constructed of ceramic and dated 2012. The interior surface features a dramatic two-tone glaze application. The upper half of the rim and well is covered in a creamy white glaze, which transitions irregularly across the center to a deep, vibrant oxblood red glaze covering the majority of the lower surface and well. The red glaze displays mottling, pooling, and scattered dark firing spots consistent with the reduction firing techniques used in this style of john page pottery. The unglazed base is speckled tan and bears an incised signature that reads ‘John C Page’ and the date ‘5-2012’.
