Description
The vessel is a modern studio pottery jug attributed to the Georgia folk potter Anita Meaders (1956-2009). Constructed of dense stoneware, the piece features a squat, spherical body, a short cylindrical neck, and a sturdy loop handle. The exterior is covered in a dark, speckled matte glaze.. The underside of the vessel is unglazed, revealing the reddish-brown clay body. The base is incised with the signature “Anita Meaders.” This piece is characteristic of the Meaders family tradition of Southern folk pottery. Measures approximately 12″ tall.
