Description
A pair of contemporary studio pottery items comprising a cylindrical drinking vessel (cup or beaker) and a complementary leaf-form saucer. The vessel features an impressed surface texture of swirling, rose-like motifs beneath a mottled, highly reactive blue glaze. The interior and the exposed base ring are finished in a glossy reddish-brown glaze. The accompanying saucer is molded into a stylized leaf shape, finished primarily in blue/green glazes with a contrasting reddish-brown oval well matching the cup’s interior. The unglazed base of the vessel is inscribed in dark pigment with the initials SH above the numerals 09. Measures approximately 4″ tall.
