Lot 72:
Description
A single studio pottery vessel of globular, compressed spherical form, constructed of speckled tan stoneware. The piece features a narrow, circular aperture and is covered in a deep, glossy, monochrome dark blue glaze. The glaze stops cleanly at the unglazed rim and the recessed, unglazed base. The unglazed base reveals the speckled tan stoneware body and an indistinct, circular or spiral impressed mark, consistent with a potter’s seal or studio identification. This piece is attributed to Tachi and dated 1978, based on the impressed mark and associated information. The minimalist style is characteristic of contemporary studio ceramics. Measures approximately 3.5″ diameter.
