Description
A large, vintage folk art carnival game target board constructed from wood in a polygonal shape. The piece is heavily polychrome-painted, featuring a central motif of a highly stylized clown face rendered in bright primary and secondary colors, including yellow hair, a blue lower face, red cheeks, and a pink hat, superimposed on a large, multi-pointed star design. Thirty-two individual circular wooden targets are affixed around the dark perimeter of the board, numbered sequentially from 1 to 32. Although designed as a target game, the overall form and graphic nature align with the tradition of large-scale carnival wheel games used in midways. The construction and style suggest a mid-20th century origin. Approximately 3 ft. diameter.
