Description
A single upholstered sofa exhibiting characteristics of the Victorian Revival style, likely utilizing horse hair stuffing consistent with period construction methods. The piece features a heavy, dark-stained wooden frame with a serpentine crest rail and deeply rolled arms. The exterior wood sections are heavily carved in high relief with motifs including fruit, foliage, and a basket-weave pattern, particularly visible on the arms and crest. The sofa rests on squat, carved feet, designed in a claw or paw style. It is upholstered with three detached seat cushions and covered in a striped jacquard fabric. The fabric incorporates vertical bands of cream/pale yellow, teal/blue, and reddish-pink, featuring a woven floral pattern throughout. The upholstery is finished with decorative cream gimp trim along the edges.
