Description
A single glazed earthenware miniature vase or urn, attributed to Japanese manufacture, executed in a Victorian revival or Majolica-style. The item features an amphora form with twin integrated handles and a scalloped rim, all finished in a dark green glaze. The cream-colored body is decorated with continuous high-relief molded scenes depicting putti or cherubs playing among naturalistic elements, including trees and rocks. The relief is highlighted primarily in brown and cream polychrome glazes. The base rim features a decorative chevron pattern in brown glaze. A small, illegible paper sticker is visible on the side. Measures approximately 5″ tall.
