Lot 2:
Description
A single decorative ceramic serving platter featuring an oblong, shell-molded form with deep, undulating fluting. The platter is finished in a cream-colored glaze that exhibits prominent, intentional craquelure (crackle). The scalloped rim is defined by a metallic looking edge. The central surface is decorated with a detailed, stylized polychrome motif depicting two long-tailed birds perched among white and pale blue blossoms, positioned above a large red flower with green foliage. The decoration appears to be executed in enamel or paint over the glaze. The style suggests a Mid-Century or later decorative piece influenced by East Asian design. No visible manufacturer’s marks or inscriptions are present. Measures 12″x 8″.
